Teacher Chic

As a complete girly girl at heart I can't stop myself from thinking about all of the cute outfits I could wear in the classroom this year. Of course every ensemble would need to be practical, appropriate and affordable. I hear a lot of women in the blogging world refer to J.Crew for their work pieces. Yes, their clothing is beautiful but who (especially a student) can afford a blouse that costs upwards of $100? Not this gal! This is why I'm trying to recreate some of the outfits I've pinned to my Teacher Chic board on Pinterest.

This mustard yellow dress, with the belted grey cardigan, instantly inspired me:

Found on Pinterest. No external source to be found.

Here are some alternatives that I've put together to recreate a similar look:

This is another outfit that I could see myself wearing on a regular basis:

What do you think? Do you have a favorite piece that you wear to the classroom? Is there a piece that you refuse to wear?

  3. I teach 2nd grade so I'm on the floor a lot. I love to wear full skirts and dresses like the yellow one you showed. I always try sitting on the floor in the dressing room before I buy a dress to make sure you can gracefully sit and stand up again without any overexposure. :)

    1. Hi Carol! Great tip! I'll make sure to give this a try. It would be hilarious if I got caught doing it at a store :)
