Coming This Week!

I've been eyeing Essie's Quick-E Drying Drops for a while now and finally picked it up this afternoon! Be watching for a review early this week!

I've also been busy cleaning and organizing EVERYTHING in our apartment this week. Be on the look out for some updates on how that's going, as well as, some natural cleaning recipes I've used along the way!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Recent Lessons from Advanced Practicum

I've been a bit  A LOT M.I.A lately but I just have to say...oh my word! It's not like I didn't believe teachers before, but I guess you just don't fully understand until you've experienced it yourself...THERE'S NO TIRED LIKE TEACHER TIRED!!! It just creeps up on you! At least for me it does. I'm good all day around the kiddies, as well as, after school. Then BAM! It hits me in the car or as soon as I walk through the door.

Needless to say, I wouldn't trade my time in the classroom for the world! I absolutely love it! It's hard to believe I only have TWO more weeks left of my advanced practicum. It feels like just yesterday I was terrified of what this year would become!

This week has been filled with teaching, planning, more planning, and applying for LOTS of jobs. If ya'll have any advice for a newbie teacher...send it my way!

Anyways, I just wanted to share a few SMART lessons that I've done with my grade twos. You can see a preview here or find them at my TPT store here.

This SMART lesson was part of our geometry unit. I had students pick a shape, identify it, name two attributes of the shape and then drag it to the correct spot on the chart. It was a great activity, met the outcomes and the students loved it!

This SMART lesson was used as a mini lesson for literacy. We were concentrating on letter blends EI.   This lessons discusses the old saying "I before E except after C". There is a bin for "EI", "IE", and "Garbage". Students must choose a word, decide if it fits the old saying/is spelled correctly. If it is, it goes in the "EI" or "IE" bin. If it's not, the word is put in the garbage bin.

Let me know what you think! I would love your feedback!

Hi everyone I hope you're having a great weekend! This weekend I've been busy finishing up assignments as well as organizing myself for my upcoming advanced practicum block THAT IS ONLY TWO WEEKS AWAY! WAHOOO!!

I've decided to upload a new 'Week At A Glance' template to my Teacher Pay Teacher store here. I plan on using this in my practicum to briefly plan out my week along with which outcomes and/or lessons I plan on completing for each class.

Below is also a glance at a template that I've tweaked/customized for my own daily use. The university gives all pre-service teachers a similar looking template at the beginning of our practicum.

My lesson plan template contains:

-Top coloured bar- used to colour coordinate lessons to the subject.
                               - keep track of which unit
                               - keep track of which lesson in the unit it is (ex. lesson #1 of Geometry unit)

-Left column:

-Time of class (in top left hand margin)
                              -Materials (left hand margin)
-Reflection (left hand margin) used to jot down notes about how well/how poorly a lesson went and provide suggestions for next time

-Middle column:

-Outcomes (underneath is room for general curriculum outcomes as well as specific curriculum outcomes)

Right hand column:

                             -Main Lesson
-Back up plan (in case technology fails or something else isn't going as planned)

Let me know if you have any question or need help customizing/creating a template of your own! I would love to help you out!
